SOAP request replay via noncanonical nonce caching
Published Sep 30, 2026 · Updated Sep 30, 2026
Authentication bypass in Apache WSS4J before 2.4.4, 3.0.0 through 3.0.5, and 4.0.0 through 4.0.1 allows attackers to replay SOAP requests. The UsernameToken replay cache stores raw Base64 nonce text while password-digest validation uses decoded nonce bytes, so adding a space changes the cache key without changing the digest. Exploitation requires a captured, unexpired digest-based token and a configured nonce replay cache; the token can then authenticate attacker-chosen message bodies.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <2.4.4
- Affected versionversion=3.0.0 <3.0.6
