Memory corruption via signed coefficient-count bypass
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in vgmstream r2117 allows remote attackers to corrupt decoder memory through a crafted EA SCHl audio stream. The EA SCHl parser stores attacker-controlled 32-bit entry counts in signed integers; negative values bypass the entries > 8 clamp, and vadpcm_read_coefs_be then writes entries × order × 8 coefficients into a fixed per-channel heap array. Opening or otherwise decoding the crafted file requires user interaction and can crash the host process or corrupt adjacent decoder state.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
