File disclosure via incomplete XML parser hardening
Published Oct 12, 2026 · Updated Oct 12, 2026
XXE in XmlFactory in JAXB RI Core 4.0.4 and 4.0.9 allows attackers to read local files via crafted XML during unmarshalling. The parser factory methods rely on FEATURE_SECURE_PROCESSING without independently disabling external entity resolution. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled XML reaching JAXB and a JAXP implementation where that feature leaves external entities enabled; the supplied record describes out-of-band file disclosure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
