Watchdog crash via missing authentication field dereference
Published Sep 30, 2026 · Updated Sep 30, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Pgpool-II 3.5 through 4.7.2 allows remote attackers to crash the watchdog process via crafted inter-node messages. The watchdog inter-node authentication path dereferences absent authentication information instead of rejecting a malformed message. Exploitation requires watchdog enabled, an authentication key configured, and network access to its listening port; the documented result is a watchdog-process crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
