Authenticated file read via unfiltered Playwright navigation
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
Improper file-protocol restriction in Browserless 1.44.0 through 2.56.7 allows remote authenticated users to read container files. Playwright WebSocket routes accept file-scheme navigation without applying the ALLOW_FILE_PROTOCOL setting's default-deny URL block. A valid Browserless token and a readable path are required, and exposure is limited to files accessible to the container process.
