Unauthenticated shortcode execution via unsanitized referrer smart tag
Published Oct 17, 2026 · Updated Oct 17, 2026
Shortcode injection in WPEverest User Registration & Membership 5.2.8 and earlier allows remote attackers to run registered shortcodes. UR_Smart_Tags::process() sanitizes HTTP_REFERER as text without removing shortcode delimiters, then inserts it into a content-restriction message processed by apply_shortcodes()/do_shortcode(). No login is required when that message contains {{referrer_url}}; consequences depend on the registered shortcodes available on the site.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
