Administrative takeover via unchecked batched SQL statements
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Manticore Search 27.0.0 through 28.4.3 allows remote authenticated users to obtain administrator access. SqlCheckPerms validates only the first parsed statement, while HandleMysqlMultiStmt executes later SELECT statements without repeating table permission or internal credential-store checks. Any account with READ access to one table can retrieve system.auth_users hashes and use the unsalted SHA-1 value to authenticate as an administrator.
