Configuration overwrite via unchecked project archive import
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Authorization bypass in Rundeck 6.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to overwrite project settings via archive imports. ProjectController.apiProjectImport accepts importConfig and importNodesSources without requiring configure permission, allowing uploaded files/etc/project.properties to replace live configuration through setProjectProperties. Project import permission is sufficient to change node executors and SSH key paths; execution consequences depend on subsequent jobs using those settings.
