Authenticated code execution via upload filename traversal
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Path traversal in BC Security Empire before 6.7.1 allows remote authenticated users to write files anywhere on the C2 server. DownloadService.create_download joins the unvalidated multipart filename to the per-user uploads directory, so ../ components escape containment before attacker-controlled bytes are written. Any active operator account can reach the affected download or avatar endpoint, and a write into imported Python or an SSH key location grants code execution under the server process account.
