Offline token disclosure via visible process arguments
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Information disclosure in cockpit-machines on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and 10 allows local users to read an RHSM offline token. During token validation, the component passes the offline token as a command-line argument to a helper script, exposing it in process metadata. Access requires local low privileges, inspection while validation is active, and nonrestrictive /proc visibility; the token can obtain access tokens.
