Arbitrary command execution via stale signature cache
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Improper signature verification in ProjectDiscovery Nuclei 3.7.0 through 3.11.0 allows local users to execute arbitrary OS commands. The template compiler reuses a cached Verified flag when a file's modification time matches, without binding that verdict to a checksum of the template bytes. A low-privileged local user must replace a previously verified template and preserve its modification time; later template execution runs attacker-supplied commands.
