Authenticated file deletion via shared upload path
Published Sep 25, 2026 · Updated Sep 25, 2026
Arbitrary file deletion in WPChill Modula Image Gallery 3.0.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete server files. The upload_image function accepts a user-controlled file path and treats confinement to wp-content/uploads as authorization, although that shared tree contains attachments owned by other users. An Author can satisfy the edit_post check through a gallery under that account, then delete another user's non-PHP upload and disrupt content availability.
