Local resource disclosure via image inversion requests
Published Sep 22, 2026 · Updated Sep 22, 2026
Information disclosure in Dark Reader before 4.9.126 on Firefox or 4.9.128 elsewhere allows remote attackers to read local resource data. The image inversion pipeline fetches an unauthenticated icon-like bitmap when a crafted page supplies a public-looking HTTPS URL that resolves to a local web server. A user must load the crafted page while Dark Reader is active and a matching local server resource is reachable; disclosure is limited to that resource.
