Unauthenticated file disclosure via case-variant hide bypass
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Improper case handling in Caddy 2.11.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to read hidden files through case-variant HTTP paths. The fileHidden() function compares hide patterns with case-sensitive filepath.Match even when the filesystem resolves names without case sensitivity. Exposure requires a file_server hide rule and a matching file; it affects default macOS and Windows filesystems and Linux hosts with case-folding or mixed-case paths.
