String corruption via unchecked UTF-8 conversion
Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
Memory-safety flaw in Eclipse iceoryx2 before 0.10.0 allows local users to corrupt strings or interrupt applications through safe Rust APIs. StaticString permits safe mutable-byte access, and String::as_str() then creates a Rust string slice without validating that the bytes contain UTF-8. Exploitation requires a high-privileged local user and an actively executed affected code path; reported effects are limited to data integrity and application availability.
