File disclosure and SSRF via discarded sandbox options
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 19, 2026
Sandbox bypass in Nodemailer 9.1.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read local files or make outbound HTTP(S) requests. MailMessage.resolveContent() passes the legacy three-argument call to shared.resolveContent(), which replaces the missing options with an empty object and skips file and URL access guards. Exploitation requires enabled sandbox flags, attacker-influenced content, and plugin or application code that calls the legacy API; the normal sendMail path remains protected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
