CVE-2026-92574Network attack vector

Privilege escalation via retained checkpoint security state

Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026

Privilege escalation in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.17 and later allows remote authenticated users to cross container boundaries. During checkpoint restore, CRI-O preserves credentials, Linux capabilities, no_new_privs, and seccomp state from the checkpoint instead of enforcing the destination pod security context. Exploitation requires pod-creation permission, a malicious checkpoint image, and available checkpoint-restore functionality.
