Disclosure and oopses via mishandled BPF faults
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Fault handling in Linux 6.18 RISC-V BPF JIT allows local users to disclose register contents or trigger kernel oopses via arena loads. In build_body(), a positive emit_atomic_ld_st() result skips exception-handler registration, while REG_DONT_CLEAR_MARKER preserves stale destination-register contents that a program can expose through a map. Exploitation requires permission to run a BPF program using arena load_acquire operations on an affected RISC-V kernel.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
