Kernel warning via nested BTF duplicate fields
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Field-validation failure in Linux 6.11 BPF allows local users to trigger a kernel warning via crafted BTF metadata. In kernel/bpf/btf.c, btf_find_struct_field() resets its uniqueness mask during recursion, allowing duplicate special fields across nesting levels to reach WARN_ON_ONCE() in btf_parse_fields(). The warning occurs before map-creation capability checks; the published mechanism establishes a warning, not arbitrary code execution or a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
