Kernel compromise via late completion-queue untracking
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Use-after-free in affected Linux kernel RDMA core releases allows local users to access freed completion queues through the netlink path. In ib_free_cq() within drivers/infiniband/core/cq.c, rdma_restrack_del() runs only after vendor-specific CQ resources are released, leaving the object reachable through restrack during destruction. Successful exploitation requires low-privileged local access and winning the brief destruction race, exposing kernel data or interrupting the host.
