Out-of-bounds reads via unchecked WMI event lengths
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Buffer overreads in the Linux ath6kl driver allow attackers to trigger out-of-bounds reads via truncated WMI event messages. The ath6kl_wmi_scan_complete_rx(), ath6kl_wmi_addba_req_event_rx(), and ath6kl_wmi_delba_req_event_rx() handlers interpret buffers as event structures without validating their lengths. Reachability requires the driver to process an undersized event; upstream does not establish attacker control, a crash, or data disclosure.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
