Out-of-bounds read via unchecked firmware-event header
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Buffer overread in the Linux ath11k Wi-Fi driver allows attackers to read beyond a firmware buffer via a truncated WMI event. The ath11k_wmi_tlv_op_rx() function dereferences skb->data as a wmi_cmd_hdr without checking that the buffer contains a complete header. The affected path processes device-firmware events; attacker control of those events and a resulting data-disclosure path are not documented.
