Kernel disruption via incomplete protocol registration rollback
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Dangling-pointer access in Linux 6.9 ARM SCMI allows local users to disrupt kernel operation after a failed protocol-driver module load. scmi_protocol_table_register() leaves earlier requests pointing at the driver's ID table when a later entry fails, even after module storage is freed. Triggering requires privileged local module loading and a partial registration failure; public sources do not establish whether disruption is a crash or hang.
