Freed-memory access via stale SCMI protocol requests
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux 6.3 arm_scmi allows local users to trigger freed-memory access via failed driver registration. scmi_driver_register() leaves protocol requests in the global IDR when driver_register() fails, retaining module ID-table pointers that later matching or device creation dereferences after storage is freed. Privileged local access and an SCMI registration failure gate the flaw; upstream does not describe a demonstrated crash or code-execution outcome.
