Kernel memory corruption via XFRM skb double-free
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
A double-free in the Linux kernel's XFRM output path allows remote attackers to corrupt kernel memory through forwarded IP packets. xfrm_dev_direct_output() frees an skb after local_out() has already consumed it or transferred ownership following a netfilter DROP, QUEUE, or STOLEN verdict. An IPsec packet-offload tunnel SA must already be configured; exploitation can expose or alter kernel memory or panic the host.
