Unspecified impact via freed decoder name access
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux CXL region handling allows attackers to cause unspecified impact via decoder error reporting. In drivers/cxl/core/region.c, find_pos_and_ways() calls put_device() before dev_err() accesses the switch decoder's name, dereferencing freed memory when the released reference was the last one. The fault requires the decoder target-list error path; the upstream disclosure does not establish a concrete crash, data-disclosure outcome, or attacker-controlled trigger.
