Memory corruption via stale GPIO registration
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux MediaTek pinctrl drivers allows local users to access freed GPIO state via driver unbinding or module removal. The drivers register device-managed gpio_chip memory with non-managed gpiochip_add_data(), leaving the chip registered after teardown frees its memory. Exposure requires removable modules and privileged teardown; built-in drivers are unaffected by this lifecycle mismatch, and the published description establishes no specific crash or privilege-escalation outcome.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
