Kernel disruption via stale interrupt handler
Published Sep 17, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux's MediaTek EINT driver allows local users to disrupt the kernel through driver unbind or module removal. mtk_eint_do_init() installs interrupt mappings and a chained handler without lifecycle cleanup, leaving the handler accessing freed driver data after teardown. The trigger requires an active affected MediaTek driver and high-privilege teardown access; the sources do not specify whether disruption manifests as a crash or hang.
