Crash via dangling external-prototype URL pointers
Published Sep 16, 2026 · Updated Sep 17, 2026
Use-after-free in GPAC 26.08-DEV MP4Box scene processing allows local users to crash the process via a crafted XMT scene. Prototype deletion frees an MFURL string while an external-prototype link retains its pointer; gf_inline_get_proto_lib later passes that pointer to strcasecmp during instantiation. Local processing through MP4Box -add or -info reaches the flaw, with public evidence demonstrating invalid memory access rather than code execution.
