Unauthenticated payment bypass via unvalidated sandbox IPN
Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
Payment bypass in Payment Gateway for PayPal on WooCommerce before 9.2.1 allows remote attackers to mark their orders paid via sandbox IPN. The IPN handler accepts a genuine sandbox transaction without confirming the configured environment or that the recipient is the store's merchant account. No authentication is required, but the attacker must control a PayPal sandbox transaction; exploitation falsely completes the attacker's own unpaid order.
