Queue access bypass via unchecked workload updates

Published Oct 7, 2026 · Updated Oct 7, 2026

Admission-control bypass in Apache YuniKorn 1.9.0 and earlier lets remote authenticated users alter queue placement through workload updates. Its admission controller checks workload labels and user annotations on CREATE but omits those checks on UPDATE, permitting changes to user identity and application ID. An attacker needs permission to update a managed Kubernetes workload; the changes can bypass queue access restrictions or user-quota tracking.
