Admin command execution via restore-filename shell interpolation
Published Oct 16, 2026 · Updated Oct 16, 2026
Command injection in SparkyFitness before 1.6.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through backup restoration. The performRestore function in backupService.ts interpolates the uploaded archive filename into a tar command executed through child_process.exec, allowing shell metacharacters to become commands. Exploitation requires global-administrator access to /api/admin/backup/restore and executes commands with the server process's privileges.
