Local file read via cross-protocol redirects
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Local file read in Streamlink before 8.6.0 allows remote attackers to place readable local file contents into stream output via redirects. HTTPSession mounts a FileAdapter and follows inherited redirects from HTTP or HTTPS URLs to file URLs without validating the scheme transition. A Streamlink run must reach an attacker-controlled URL; exposure is limited to files readable by that process, and direct exfiltration depends on access to the output.
