API-token theft via crawl-result innerHTML reparse

Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026

DOM-based XSS in the Docker Playground UI in Crawl4AI before 0.9.3 allows remote attackers to steal an operator API token. The forceHighlightElement() helper copies serialized crawl results from textContent into innerHTML, re-parsing attacker markup as executable HTML. An authenticated operator must crawl an attacker-influenced URL in the Playground; JavaScript then reads the token from sessionStorage and can abuse the server API.
