Thread hang via unbounded remote policy fetch
Published Sep 21, 2026 · Updated Sep 21, 2026
Denial of service in Apache Neethi before 3.2.4 allows remote attackers to hang a calling thread through a slow policy response. PolicyReference.getRemoteReferencedPolicy applies a timeout to each read but, in affected versions, does not cap total transfer time as a server continues sending bytes. Exposure requires an embedding application to invoke remote PolicyReference retrieval and a remote server under attacker control; the bounded consequence is occupation of the fetching thread.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
