Local privilege escalation via updater DLL hijacking
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Uncontrolled DLL search in Foxit PDF Reader and Editor 2026.2 and earlier allows local users to execute code with elevated privileges. During privileged update operations, the updater searches a user-writable directory and loads an attacker-supplied dynamic-link library. A low-privileged Windows user needs write access to that directory; PDF Editor 14.0.7 and earlier is also affected.
