Root command execution via unvalidated upgrade configuration
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Privilege escalation in Foxit PDF Editor for Mac before 14.0.8 or 2026.2.1 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands as root. During a high-privilege upgrade, the installer insufficiently validates a configuration value that an unprivileged user can modify before privileged processing. A low-privileged local account must alter that value before an upgrade processes it; successful exploitation grants root command execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
