Code execution via annotation appearance use-after-free
Published Sep 23, 2026 · Updated Sep 23, 2026
Use-after-free in Foxit PDF Editor and Reader 2026.2 and earlier allows attackers to execute code through a crafted PDF. PDF JavaScript changes annotation rich-text attributes containing malformed font data, and appearance reconstruction later accesses the released object. Opening the document is required; Editor 13.2.6 and 14.0.7 and earlier are also affected, and successful corruption runs code in the user's context.
