CVE-2026-91786Hinoki check available

Session crash via unchecked search-provider icon dimensions

Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in GNOME Shell on Red Hat Enterprise Linux allows local users to crash a desktop session via a D-Bus search provider. Remote-search icon rendering trusts declared dimensions without checking them against the returned icon-data buffer, causing an out-of-bounds read. Exploitation requires control of a registered D-Bus search provider; the read can crash GNOME Shell and can expose adjacent process memory.
