Stored XSS via unvalidated comment link schemes
Published Sep 28, 2026 · Updated Sep 28, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in Apache Roller 6.1.5 allows remote attackers to execute script when a visitor clicks a crafted comment link. Utilities.transformToHTMLSubset restores an attacker-supplied anchor href during HTML comment formatting without restricting its URI scheme, preserving a javascript: link. Exploitation requires HTML-enabled comments and the HTMLSubset formatter; comment moderation delays publication, and script execution requires a visitor to click the link.
