Stored HTML injection via overtrusted oEmbed fragments
Published Oct 14, 2026 · Updated Oct 14, 2026
HTML injection in Discourse oEmbed processing allows remote authenticated users to insert misleading interfaces via posted URLs. The processor trusts an entire attacker-controlled HTML fragment when its first iframe matches the configured source allowlist, admitting unrelated sibling HTML and CSS. Exploitation requires posting permission and control of a public webpage and its oEmbed response; injected overlays affect content integrity without exposing restricted data or disrupting service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
