Service interruption via unbounded connection threads
Published Sep 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 18, 2026
Resource exhaustion in Cockpit on affected Red Hat products allows remote attackers to interrupt the web console service over TCP port 9090. The cockpit-tls service creates an unbounded detached thread for each sustained connection, consuming memory and file descriptors. Network access to the listener is sufficient, and exhaustion degrades or completely blocks legitimate Cockpit access without affecting data confidentiality or integrity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
