Restricted upload metadata disclosure via wildcard resolution
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Improper authorization in Discourse allows remote authenticated users to read restricted upload metadata via crafted upload identifiers. Upload metadata, URL-lookup, and cooked-video-placeholder paths treat unescaped percent and underscore characters as SQL LIKE wildcards, so a lookup can select an unrelated upload instead of a literal identifier. Any authenticated account can reach the affected resolution paths and disclose original filenames and secure-upload paths, but cannot modify upload records through this flaw.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
