Authenticated arbitrary file read via URL scheme mismatch
Published Sep 24, 2026 · Updated Sep 24, 2026
Pulpcore path traversal allows remote authenticated users with repository privileges to read files accessible to the server process. The content upload API rejects only file URLs beginning with file://, although Python also parses file: without slashes and dispatches it to the local-file downloader. A crafted relative path can expose any file readable by the service; with Pulp Container, the registry signing key enables forged bearer tokens for private repositories.
