Authenticated file disclosure and overwrite via symlink aliases
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
Access control bypass in File Browser 2.63.23 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read or overwrite denied files via symlink aliases. The data.CheckRules path-rule check authorizes only the normalized lexical request path, while ScopedFs.within resolves the alias without reapplying rules to the target. Exploitation requires a pre-existing in-scope symbolic link to a denied target plus Download or Modify permission, and it does not cross the user's scope.
