Account takeover via unverified email binding
Published May 28, 2026 · Updated May 28, 2026
Improper email binding in Casdoor 2.362.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over accounts via upstream identity providers. The getExistUserByBindingRule function matches an asserted email to an existing user without checking email_verified, which is absent from idp.UserInfo. Exploitation requires an upstream provider that supplies an attacker-controlled, unverified email matching an existing account, after which Casdoor binds the attacker to that account.
