Cross-site scripting via unescaped media layouts
Published Sep 29, 2026 · Updated Sep 29, 2026
Cross-site scripting in Joomla! CMS 4.0.0 through 5.4.8 and 6.0.0 through 6.1.3 allows attackers to run script in visitors' browsers. The generic audio and video output layouts render media values without sufficient escaping, allowing crafted values to become executable markup. Exploitation requires high-privilege access to place affected content and a visitor to view its rendered media.
