Use-after-free via premature dictionary lock release
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Use-after-free in Luben zstd-jni 1.5.7-13 allows remote attackers to trigger unspecified impact through shared dictionaries. ZstdCompressCtx.loadDict releases the dictionary's shared lock after loading it even though the compression context retains the object, permitting native state to be freed while still referenced. Exploitation requires a consuming application to expose attacker-controlled dictionary sharing; the published record does not bound the consequence beyond a use-after-free.
