Browser script execution via unsanitized ResultMessage
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Cross-site scripting in Governikus AusweisApp 2.5.0 through 2.5.4 allows remote attackers to execute script via a crafted ResultMessage. The StartPAOSResponse handler places the server-supplied ResultMessage into an application-generated browser error page without neutralizing executable markup. A malicious or compromised remote eID service must supply the response during an identification flow; execution is confined to the generated page's browser context.
