Account takeover via automatic email-based OIDC linking
Published May 20, 2026 · Updated May 20, 2026
Authentication bypass in MISP 2.5.0 through 2.5.37 allows remote attackers with valid OIDC tokens to take over local accounts. The Oidc::authenticate method falls back from the token's sub claim to an email lookup and links a matching account whose stored sub is null without requiring verified email ownership. Exploitation requires OIDC to be enabled and an insecure or untrusted identity provider that lets the token holder assert a victim's email address.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
